AUCKLAND, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Popular eatery, Sri Mahkota, encouraged by Malaysia External Trade
Development Corp's (Matrade) Malaysian Kitchen programme, has opened its third
restaurant on Symonds Street in Auckland's central business district.

Owner Han Chin is bringing a sublime Malaysian food
experience to Aucklanders -- specialty dishes include Malaysian fried tofu,
fish noodle soup and salt & pepper squid, together with ubiquitous
Malaysian dishes such as satay, rendang and char kway teow.

Chin's favourite though is the Nestum Prawns -- succulent
prawns in an egg and oat coating.

Malaysian cuisine is a melting pot of flavours -- a blend
of Malay, Chinese and Indian food traditions with Thai, Portuguese and Middle
Eastern influences.

Sri Mahkota's other two restaurants are in East Tamaki
and Epsom.

It is a member of the Malaysia Kitchen Programme
for NZ -- a year-long campaign initiated by Matrade to educate consumers about
Malaysian cuisine and to encourage trial.
