TAWAU, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara)
has allocated RM44mil in loans to help bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sabah this
year.
Sabah Mara director Kamaruzdzaman Md Ali said of the
amount, RM26mil was set aside for loans to bumiputera contractors.

"Sabah receives the highest allocation nationwide
and will witness the implementation of many projects," he said after
opening the general meeting of Kelab Usahawan Kompleks (Mara) Tawau here
Wednesday.

The loans would be given to those renting Mara premises,
who had undergone training with Mara or graduates of training institutes like
GiatMara.

Kamaruzdzaman said Mara's focus was to encourage Malays
and bumiputeras to venture into business and not be dependent of salaried jobs.

On repayment of loans, he said of RM62mil loans disbursed
last year, RM44mil was collected in Sabah, the highest among all the states.
